Biography

​

In 2003, Joshua Shanks started learning guitar at the age of 10. He was inspired to learn after hearing a recording of the Jimi Hendrix song Purple Haze. Josh had a few guitar teachers when he first started guitar, but as a teenager, he taught himself songs and began writing his own pieces. He also learned recording techniques and began to record covers of songs as well as his original work.

 

At the age of 18, Josh recorded three original songs professionally (Don’t Back Down, Just Stay, Square One) and became very interested in the recording industry. He continued to record his own music and play guitar for live events such as weddings and open mics. In 2015, Josh moved from Wisconsin to Gilbert, Arizona and registered into the Music Business program at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

 

Josh graduated from Chandler-Gilbert in 2017 and moved to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, February of 2018. He hopes to maintain a career recording and producing for artists of all kinds. Josh also continues to play many genres of music on the guitar, and is willing to help fellow artists as a musician, too.

Josh's current project is providing streamers and content creators copyright free music for projects including YouTube videos, streaming, and live settings such as background music. All songs are copyright free so creators and users do not have to worry about DMCA claims or strikes on YouTube, Twitch, or other sites. Josh is currently expanding his catalog of music so users and listeners can find the genre that best suits them.
